“Yoga classes have had multiple benefits for women during pregnancy, labour and birth, and beyond”
British Journal of Midwifery Feb 2019
Having gone through this transitional phase of life four times with my own children, I am extremely passionate to share the journey of pregnancy, birth and early motherhood with you! At these times in our lives we often experience a myriad of physical and emotional changes; my classes and workshops are here for you to feel relaxed, confident, informed and empowered so you can really enjoy this wonderful stage of your life!
In addition to my Yoga Teacher Training Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga, I have completed further extensive trainings in Pregnancy Yoga, Post Natal Rehab Yoga, Mum & Baby Yoga, and also a FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Teachers) accredited course on teaching Birth Preparation Workshops.
By coming to any of my Pregnancy Yoga, Positive Birthing or Mum & Baby Yoga classes, you will be joining a community of women going through similar experiences to you in an environment where you can share your thoughts, feel listened to, understood and supported.

"Gail is a fantastic instructor and created a relaxing and supportive atmosphere throughout the sessions. I felt prepared for labour after attending the sessions and even though I didn’t have the birth I originally wanted I was still able to use all the relaxing techniques Gail had taught us. It was so lovely to “graduate” to mum and baby yoga after the birth of my daughter, and it’s been so nice to catch up with the other mums who were in my pregnancy yoga group too!"

"The yurt is a calm place where you can relax and learn techniques to help you through pregnancy. Being around people in the same boat definitely took away some of the anxieties I had while pregnant, you can ask questions and voice any worries you may have and there is no judgement. It is like a little safe space and I feel very lucky I got to experience it.
Once I had my baby I was so excited to start baby yoga and it has not disappointed! It is a lovely environment where you get to speak to other mums, do some yoga and also incorporate your little one. Gail, you are fab!!"

"I’ve been going to Gail’s yoga classes for years, first starting post-partum after my first child. Then throughout pregnancy with my second child I went to her pregnancy classes which was the most valuable experience and would encourage all mums, new and not, to book on. You learn so much about what your body is capable of, during pregnancy and labour!
Now we go to her mum and baby classes which is a safe cosy environment to share with other mums. She’s created a gorgeous community that I feel so lucky being a part of."

You can join this small friendly class anytime in your 2nd and 3rd trimester - the earlier you start, the greater the benefits! Those who are new to yoga are very welcome. You will also receive access to a short yoga flow and 2 breathing/meditation/relaxation recordings to do at home as often as you like between classes.
During these classes, you will be:
Pregnancy Yoga classes are a wonderful way to bond with your baby before they are born. Additionally, it's a great opportunity to meet other new mums-to-be, building a supportive community during your pregnancy and after your baby is born. You can then move on to the Mum & Baby Yoga classes and enjoy a special time moving with your baby, alongside the friends you made from Pregnancy Yoga!
Come and move with us and empower you and your birth partner for YOUR positive birthing journey!
Would you like to feel better prepared for the later stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond?
The workshop is very experiential, you and your birthing partner will be able to familiarise yourselves with postures for late pregnancy and birthing positions, optimal foetal positioning, massage techniques, biomechanics for birth, and rebozos (they are wonderful birthing aids!), to help you feel confident when the time comes and promote a positive birth experience.
This workshop is led by Gail Shakespeare (yoga teacher trained in pregnancy, postnatal rehab and mum & baby yoga, biomechanics for birth, and birth preparation workshops) and Joanne Holloway (registered osteopath with a special interest in women's health, antenatal and postnatal care). We are both very passionate about challenging the largely negative cultural narrative around birth, and are endeavouring to assist pregnant women and their birth partners in making birth a positive experience, where they can feel relaxed, are informed to make choices, and have already tried out simple yet effective techniques to benefit their birthing journey.
Yoga with your baby! A gentle and fun class for you both including a practise that focuses on regaining strength and tone postnatally. Each class will be designed to re-discover the core and pelvic floor, as well as giving mums some much needed 'me-time'. A very important aspect of this class is being a part of a community of new mums. Practising yoga with your baby can be very special for both of you!
You are very welcome to stay for a drink and a chat after the class.
Mums will also receive access to a 34 minute online post-natal class to do at home!
"I have been going to Gail's Mum and Baby yoga class since my daughter was 10 weeks old. She is now 13 months and we still thoroughly enjoy the class despite my little one being mobile now! It has always been something I look forward to each week (on maternity leave and now I am back at work) and I have always felt very welcomed and supported by Gail.
Before having my daughter I also enjoyed Gail's Pregnancy yoga classes which I found were such a great way to relax and spend some time focusing on myself and baby before she arrived."

"Really knowledge based about how the human body works and how to aid birth. I wish I had done this years ago! Very thankful for the opportunity to attend."
- Penny
"Gail is really knowledgeable about all things pregnancy related and has pointed me in the right direction, given suggestions and advice and generally been super supportive many, many times. And that’s not even mentioning that that the yoga is perfectly pitched, gentle and a wholly rejuvenating experience.
I am so pleased to have found this class during my pregnancy and am looking forward to attending mother and baby sessions once my baby has arrived."
-Sarah
For all the mums-to-be and new parents, here is a free meditation: ‘The Golden Thread Breath’, a lovely soothing breathing exercise I use in my pregnancy yoga classes.
