Gail started her yoga journey in 1996, and is a dedicated yoga practitioner, teacher and eternal student, with over 1000 hours yoga and qigong teacher trainings and continual professional development courses.
I teach yoga in Shropshire and Clwyd alongside my online membership and retreats in the UK and Morocco. Yoga and qigong are a huge part of my life, giving me strength, flexibility, calmness and mindfulness, and have helped me tremendously through life's many journeys.
I aim to create a warm, friendly and welcoming environment for you to move your body mindfully and deepen your knowledge of yoga and/or qigong. My classes are fun and informative whilst also being nurturing and calming. I offer a wide variety of classes, making it easy to choose one that suit your needs and ability.
I like to focus on alignment, breath awareness, meditation and relaxation, and I encourage my students to become their own inner teacher, listening to cues within their body to make their yoga and/or qigong experience unique to them.
I would love to be able to share the positive influence yoga and qigong have had on me with you!
"Gail delivers the classes in a detailed, sensitive and well-structured way giving a variety of options for all levels of ability. She also adds interesting nuggets of information whilst sharing her expertise, knowledge and wisdom. This has helped me to understand the ‘wholeness’ of practising yoga and it is the perfect nourishment for my mind, body and soul."

In-person classes are held at Ginger Yoga Yurt (Bettisfield), Loppington Village Hall and Wem Town Hall, reaching yogis from locations such as Ellesmere, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Wrexham, Market Drayton, Malpas, Shawbury and Shrewsbury. I also have an online membership, which you can find more about on the Online Membership page of this website.
Regular practice of yoga and qigong can improve strength, balance and flexibility; whilst also aiding in stress management, relaxation, better sleep and increasing energy levels. It has also been shown to help improve the functioning of the immune and cardiovascular systems.
Most of my classes are suitable for all abilities, including beginners. The details of each class can be found on my booking site. If you are unsure about which class would be of most benefit to you, you are very welcome to get in touch!
People can often feel anxious about starting any kind of body movement class. They may struggle with mobility, flexibility, or be self-conscious about their body shape, age, gender etc. However, I believe that yoga and qigong are for everybody! Please don’t worry, my classes are warm and welcoming, you can get in touch and have a chat with me first though if you wish. If you are still feeling uncomfortable, you can always join my Yoga Pick ‘n’ Mix membership site and do some yoga and/or qigong in the comfort of your own home.
Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing is recommended for yoga and qigong classes. Both practices are best performed in bare feet, however some people like to wear non-slip socks if they feel the cold!
You will need to bring a yoga mat with you (they are provided for you in Pregnancy and Mum & Baby Yoga classes), and most people also bring a blanket, which can be useful as an aid to sit on and keep you warm in the relaxation part of the class. You may also want to bring a yoga block, brick and/or bolster if you wish (these are available in the yurt for you to use). It is not necessary to bring anything to a qigong class.
You can discuss any medical condition or mobility issues with me before you join a class by getting in touch with me, or at the beginning of your first class (please arrive a little early for this). I will do my best to accommodate your needs with modifications and alternative postures if/where required. You may wish to discuss with your doctor before joining a class. Everyone who attends my classes is encouraged to listen to their bodies: if something doesn’t feel comfortable - let me know; if you need to rest – rest; there is no pressure: you are invited to do as much, or as little, as you feel like. My Gentle Yoga and Qigong & a Cuppa classes are ideal for those who wish to take things nice and easy.
Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is an ancient Chinese intention-based practice that uses gentle movement and the breath to balance our energy flow. It assists in increasing our circulation, releasing tension in the body, building strength, and calming the mind. Qigong is one of the 5 pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the foundation of all martial arts, and has spiritual aspects allowing us to connect with the harmony of the natural world.
